LB Women's Basketball knocks off Chemeketa 69-46 in their first conference matchup of the season


In their first conference matchup of the season, LBCC’s Women’s Basketball team knocked off Chemeketa 69-46. Following the win, the Roadrunners improved to 14-1 on the season. 


Chemeketa traveled to the Activities Center at Linn-Benton on Jan 14 hoping to knock off LBCC, ranked No. 6 in the NWAC standings. The Storm came into Albany with a 7-8 record on the season while the Roadrunners aimed to win their 12th straight game. 


Junior forward  Brooklynn Hankwitz led the team in scoring with 13 points while shooting over 50% from the field, while guard Kathleen Hale put up 7 points and brought in a whopping 15 rebounds for the Roadrunners. 


LB point guard Ruby Krebs said, “Each quarter we kind of reset our mindset. We had a bunch of team goals that we wanted to accomplish and everyone stepped up to fill their roles.”


The Roadrunners won each quarter of the game, closing it out in strong fashion by winning the second half 46-28


The Roadrunners are 4-0 in NWAC play, while the Storm fell to 7-9, and 1-3 in conference matchups. LBCC now looks onward to their big matchup against the fifth-ranked Clackamas Cougars on the road Wednesday, Jan. 18.
